The
Grove Arcade Public Market. Built in the
1920s, this building in downtown Asheville housed one of the country's
first indoor public markets until the 1940s. At that time the government
took over the building as part of the effort to win World War II.
The Grove Arcade has now been restored and is once again a public
market with offices and residences on its upper floors.
